Sekond announces ratings for democratized alternative investing

BOSTON (June 30, 2025), Sekond, creator of a purpose-built technology solution to accelerate liquidity in the democratized alternative investment market, debuted its first product, Sekond Ratings, giving wealth advisors, high-net-worth clients and everyday investors a clear, data-driven lens on a private-markets space that’s projected to swell by $7 trillion worldwide according to BlackRock’s 2025 market outlook.

The Company pioneered the first Private Market Genome (“PM Genome”), a continuously updated map linking every manager, fund, and underlying holding. By surfacing ownership links, verified cash flows, and regulatory filings, the Genome compresses months of private market detective work into decision-ready market signals.

Sekond Ratings delivers a data-driven rating for evergreen/’40 Act private equity, secondary, credit, infrastructure, and real estate funds. Powered by a proprietary PM Genome, each rating fuses a quartile-performance benchmark with liquidity-risk measures, equipping wealth advisors with a clear picture to answer the key questions of “How is this fund performing?” and “Can my client exit?”

Founded by Rasmus Goksor, former CEO and Co-founder of PE-tech platforms Bison and Cobalt (acquired by Hamilton Lane and FactSet in 2021), Sekond launched in November 2024 with support from world-class investors and strategic advisors.

“Evergreen funds promise private equity returns with the convenience of mutual funds, but they leave wealth advisors flying blind,” said Rasmus Goksor, Founder & CEO of Sekond. “The PM Genome we developed tracks the manager, the fund and underlying holdings in near real-time. Sekond Ratings distills these piercing insights into straightforward markers to enable wealth advisors to serve their clients with public market confidence.”

Sekond Ratings’ Fact Sheets already cover over 50 funds and add new vehicles weekly. Fact Sheets include:

  • Liquidity Risk Score: Ongoing tracking that flags redemption-queue stress, before it hits.

  • Quartile Performance Ranking: Apples-to-apples comparison against evergreen fund benchmark.

  • Transparent Fee Breakdown: Management, carry, administration and other pass-through costs.

  • Hidden Overlap Radar: Identification of cross-holdings for concentration of risk.

  • News Monitor: Ongoing coverage of news for rated evergreen funds.

Sekond Ratings is the first-of-its-kind product specifically designed to provide data for private markets that goes far beyond anecdotal fund information upon which investors often rely. “Independent, data-driven insight is the missing link between private markets and fiduciary advice,” said Michael Aronstein, former President of Marketfield Asset Management and Advisor to Sekond. “Sekond Ratings supplies a defensible framework to wealth advisors for evaluating evergreen funds that hold private assets, equivalent to what Morningstar provides for mutual funds.”
